Peter Maxwell of Made Solid - or Just Max as a DJ - has been collecting records and DJing for over 30 years. The designs and styles he brings to MS are continually influenced by an ever-expanding music collection. He brings that history and ongoing research into new music to The Solid Sounds DJ Mix Podcast AND to regularly updated playlists.

As a DJ, producer and host, Max has played extensively up and down the West Coast, throughout North America, Japan, Spain, France, Mexico and beyond. He has DJed alongside Peanut Butter Wolf + Stones Throw DJs, J Dilla, JT Donaldson, Dam Funk, House Shoes, Madlib, Mayer Hawthorne, Aloe Blacc, Mark de Clive-Lowe, Noelle Scaggs, Rhettmatic, Blu+Exile, DJ Muro, DJ Sureshot, The Twilite Tone, Ohmega Watts, Tom Noble, The Rurals, The Brand New Heavies, Kamasi Washington, Roy Ayers, Snoop Dogg and many many more.
For decades, he was a regular on the LA DJ scene, playing at iconic events/clubs like Chocolate Bar, Root Down, Firecracker, Funkmosphere, The Room, Boardners, The Mayan, King King, Deep, Star Shoes, Zanzibar and Del Monte Speakeasy.
In 2009, Peanut Butter Wolf named him as one of his top 10 favorite LA DJs.
From 2007-2013, Max was the co-host, producer and photographer of the HVW8 Podcast along with artist/curator/DJ Tyler Gibney. The show was recorded live the the HVW8 Gallery in the Fairfax District of Los Angeles - pairing visual artists with DJs, producers and live musicians - all centered around a Sunday afternoon BBQ. This ahead-of-its-time podcast gave local and international artists a platform to release music, support peers and collaborate in realtime.
This project hosted sessions that led to the formation of groups like The Hawthorne Headhunters (Black Spade/Ced No/Coultrain) and Master Blazter (Dam Funk/J-1/Computer Jay). Taz Arnold (Sa-Ra), Thundercat, Terrace Martin and Dam Funk performed together. Mark de Clive-Lowe, N’Dambi, Nia Andrews + live band jammed. Our A-Side Worldwide show gave a young DJ Haircut the first spin of his new record under the name Mayer Hawthorne. The list goes on and on….. Find the HVW8 Podcast HERE.

Solid Sounds Volume One
Perfect Summer kick-off. Centered around UK and US Street Soul, different takes on classics, a little Japan, plus some mellow jazz and electro to round it out.
